I stopped by after work to see how the osprey family was doing. It was a cloudy day with rain in the air, but happily I was able to pay a quick visit to the osprey and eagle nests "around the corner" that can be seen from a nearby bridge, and also was able to stop here. Not many pictures today, so I'll start with one of the restaurant showing the threatening sky, and the newly paved parking lot, though the picture really doesn't do it justice. (All pictures click larger.)
As I approached the restaurant, I could see Mom peeking over the edge of the nest.
I figured she'd be brooding her chick - but I got a pleasant surprise - the little one was taking advantage of the warm day to sleep "on the porch" - close to Mom, but out in the open.
I wasn't able to stay too long - there were hungry cats waiting at home - so while the chick did change position occasionally, he or she was never up for long enough for me to get a good picture. Here's another view, showing that she is getting big - she's now 12 days old.♡
